Femmeslash (also known as saffic, Sapphic, femslash, girlslash, slash, yuri, or shoujo-ai) is a variation on the traditional definition of slash fiction -- homosexual/homoerotic/homoromantic fanfiction. In femmeslash, female fictional characters are paired in a romantic and/or sexual relationship in a fan-written story. The prefix "fem" comes from a shortening of the word "female" and its alternate "femme" from the French for "woman".

Many fandoms are femmeslash-positive, including Hex, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Harry Potter, ER, Firefly, and, the first primarily femmeslash fandom, Xena: Warrior Princess. Older, more well-known fandoms also have growing femmeslash contingents, such as Star Trek, The X-Files, and comic books such as Purgatori, Catwoman and Harley & Ivy.

Femmeslash is a wide and varied genre, ranging from epic romances to hardcore pornography to lighthearted romps to darkest horror.

This fanlisting was approved by TFL in May 2006 after previously having been removed from the network. It's owned by Trialia; if you need to contact me, email trialia@gmail.com. :) I do not own the genre of fanfiction, quite obviously, and the only femmeslash fanfiction I own is what I myself have written. *grin* The layout for this fanlisting was made using an image found with Google, edited in Adobe Photoshop 7 and Notepad, using the font Violation (before it was trendy :P).
